Eric Vogel Live Performance with Classic Romance in Holland

I always knew I wanted to be a musician. As a teenager I started to write songs and record them on the old 4 track tape deck and mess around with sounds.

Music ran in our family and every Sunday a visit to our grandparents turned into a “jamming” session with the whole family. In the early 80’s, I started gigging with my brother Marcel and two of our best friends (Erwin Rengers on Bass and Marco Servaas on Drums). The band Classic Romance was born and I got a real taste for what music can do. Our music was very much of the period and our influences were The Cure, Flock of Seagulls, Joy Division etc. with dark lyrics - a live recording of our track called The Meeting (Ugly) can be found below - not the best quality, but this was nearly 40 years ago and don’t you just love the lyrics ;-)

My brother and I wrote our own material and although we never quite got that minute of fame every teenager dreams of, it was a great platform for learning. I got my first Korg Polysix Synthesizer in the late 80’s and this started the journey of making music with virtual sounds.

Composing is no longer just a hobby as I have recently given up my proper job as a Sales Director for an IT company in Milton Keynes.

The 2020 pandemic spurred me on to set up my home studio again. I started arranging and composing (and learning on the way) and launched my first album. You can listen to the album on either Spotify or Apple Music by scrolling to the bottom of the Home section of this site.

I have recently also completed the second album and now working towards a launch date for the third.

I have also started to write for film and in particular film trailers (you can watch some examples on the film trailer section of this site).

A very talented singer / songwriter also asked me to collaborate on some of her songs recently and I look forward to showcasing our combined efforts soon.
